Chain Chomps are cast iron black, sentient ball and chain creatures that have been featured in a multitude of Mario's adventures throughout the years. Pupper may be one of the most prominent instances of a real world creature garnering a lot of attention in a Mario game, but there are other fictitious animals that have been filling that dog shaped void for many decades. Named "Pupper" by the Super Mario community, this Shiba Inu is quite a unusual sight within the Super Mario franchise, as a compared to the turtle-like Koopas or dinosaur-esque Yoshi creatures, this Shiba Inu is simply an ordinary dog that exists in Mario's extraordinary adventure (though Pupper is inconspicuously sporting a cowboy hat, funnily enough.) Though Pupper is a new character who plays a relatively small part in the grand scheme of Super Mario Odyssey, this hat wearing Shiba Inu has made a big impression on the millions of gamers who've encountered him and he'll always be remembered for breaking ground as one of the first real world breeds to grace the Mushroom Kingdom. But a certain Shiba Inu has made big waves in Mario's critically praised 2017 game, Super Mario Odyssey. The Mushroom Kingdom and the various other lands that Mario has visited are host to a wide array of strange creatures and otherworldly beings, but dogs have made very few appearances throughout the Super Mario franchise.
